Femilon 0.15/0.02mg (Ethinylestradiol / Desogestrel)

Common use
Femilon is a combined oral contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. It contains synthetic estrogen and progesterone hormones that inhibit ovulation, alter cervical mucus, and change the uterine lining to prevent fertilization and implantation.

Dosage and direction
Take one tablet daily at the same time each day, ideally without missing any doses. After finishing a 21-day cycle, take a 7-day break (or placebo pills), during which withdrawal bleeding usually occurs.

Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have a history of blood clots, heart disease, liver disorders, or migraines. Smoking while taking hormonal contraceptives increases the risk of cardiovascular side effects, especially in women over 35.

Contraindications
Do not use Femilon if you are pregnant or have a history of thromboembolic events, hormone-sensitive cancers, or liver tumors. It is also contraindicated in uncontrolled hypertension or unexplained vaginal bleeding.

Possible side effect
Common side effects include nausea, headache, breast tenderness, mood changes, and spotting. Rare but serious risks include blood clots, stroke, and increased blood pressure.

Drug interaction
Femilon may interact with antibiotics, anticonvulsants, and certain herbal products like St. John’s Wort, reducing its effectiveness. Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements you're taking.

Missed dose
If you miss one Femilon pill, take it as soon as you remember. For multiple missed pills, follow the package instructions or consult your doctor, and use backup contraception if needed.

Femilon Overdose
Overdose of Femilon may cause nausea, vomiting, and vaginal bleeding. Seek medical attention if a significant overdose is suspected.

Storage
Store Femilon tablets at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
