Common use of Elmiron

Elmiron is prescribed for the relief of bladder pain and discomfort caused by interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome). Pentosan polysulfate works by protecting the bladder lining and reducing irritation.

Elmiron Dosage and direction

Take Elmiron orally, usually three times a day, with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider. Swallow the capsules whole and do not crush or chew them.

Precautions before using Elmiron

Inform your doctor if you have a history of bleeding disorders or liver disease. It may take several weeks to months to experience the full benefits of Elmiron.

Contraindications

Do not use Elmiron if you have an allergy to Pentosan polysulfate or any of the capsule ingredients. It should be used cautiously in patients with bleeding risks.

Storage

Store Elmiron tablets at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep capsules in their original container and out of reach of children.
